Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic autoimmune disease which may cause a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations but can also lead to more subjective symptoms. Notably, fatigue is reported by 67 to 90% of SLE patients and has been described as the most disabling symptom of the disease due to its significant impact on the quality of life and its association with employment disability. The understanding and treatment of fatigue in rheumatic diseases remain challenging despite the evolution of therapies because fatigue is a multidimensional concept without unequivocal definition.
